Coherence Lab is a tool for organisations to monitor and understand the views of their employees, to ultimately assess the potential of the organisation in delivering upon its vision. Users of the platform can create surveys to send to their teams, the responses from which can be viewed in dashboards.

The existing navigation was confusing and unintuitive, often leading to dead ends. The user has no sense of orientation; there is no way of knowing where you came from or how to get back.

Following Jakob’s Law, we needed to create a more familiar, intuitive experience by adopting common patterns from similar platforms.

I took inspiration from tools like Jira and PostHog, both of which use a side navigation panel with segmented controls to organise deeper content.

The platform required a significant update to its navigation pattern to accommodate its features and content and ensure its continued usability.

A reshaped & future-proof navigation system to aid user orientation, accommodate nested content and align with current patterns.
